Today in the library I was reading ahead in leafing through my Muggle Studies textbook and there was a section about Muggle medicine. It's pretty interesting how they cure diseases without potions and spells. Some of it's pretty gross though. I mean, really, whoever came up with the idea of "immunizations" must have been completely deranged. Injecting people with disease?! With NEEDLES?! I read about these pills people take which fix their brains so they feel happy even when maybe they really aren't. I'll have to read it again to really understand what it meant. But anyway, I couldn't help but think that maybe Umbridge has been taking them. It might explain the pink. If she's not taking them... maybe she ought to be?
How are you two doing? I wasn't there, of course because the very idea of the stands makes me feel ill, but it would be hard not to have heard about it. Horrible, nasty, evil woman. Do you need anything? Hugs? Chocolate? A sounding board for revenge plotting?
Oh, I just looked at that section after I read this. Anti-depressants, right?
Hmm - well, if she were depressed and on anti-depressants, then why would she want everyone else to be so miserable still - despite the pink? And if she's depressed and not on anti-depressants, why is she still getting so much joy out of making people so miserable?
Well, actually, she's not so much depressed as she is sadistic.
Ah, those are antidepressants, which are mind-altering substances typically prescribed by certain types of Muggle healers called Psychiatrists for people who are depressed (which in Muggle healing has a scientific definition, not just 'sad' or 'upset'). But they can have some dodgy side effects, I believe. I guess it's kind of like the Muggle equivalent of hitting people with Cheering Charms and dosing them with the Elixir to induce Euphoria constantly. Strangely I think some forms of antidepressants cause people to have suicidal thoughts, which is bizarre considering their intended purpose. Bad chemical reaction, I suppose. Don't know that it should be chanced upon Umbridge though.
